Privacy Policy
The short version: whitescreen.info has no accounts, no ads and no data to sell. We use one privacy-configured analytics tool to count visits, and your colour and brightness settings never leave your own browser. The detail below explains exactly what that means.
1. Who we are
whitescreen.info ("we", "us") is an independent website that provides free fullscreen colour screens for display testing, lighting and focus. It is operated by Khawar as the data controller for the purposes of the UK GDPR and EU General Data Protection Regulation. You can reach us at any time at hello@whitescreen.info.
2. What this policy covers
This policy applies to whitescreen.info and all of its language versions and sub-pages. It does not apply to third-party websites you reach by following a link from here; those sites have their own policies and we have no control over how they handle your information.
3. Information we collect
3.1 Information you give us directly
The only way to send us personal information is to email us. If you do, we receive your email address, your name if you include it, and whatever you write in the message. We use that solely to reply and to fix or act on what you have reported.
3.2 Information collected automatically
Like almost every website, our hosting infrastructure processes standard technical request data — IP address, browser type and version, device type, referring page, requested URL, and the date and time. This is used to serve pages, keep the site secure, and diagnose faults.
3.3 Information we deliberately do not collect
- No user accounts, passwords or profiles.
- No payment data — nothing on the site is for sale.
- No advertising or cross-site tracking identifiers.
- No access to your camera, microphone, contacts, photos or location.
- No fingerprinting scripts and no data brokers.
4. Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how many people visit, which screens are used most, and whether pages are loading correctly. It records aggregated, statistical information such as page views, approximate country-level location, device category and referral source. It is configured so that IP addresses are handled in a truncated, anonymised form, and we have not enabled Google Signals, advertising features or remarketing.
To keep the site fast, the analytics script is loaded only after the page is usable — either once you interact with it or shortly after loading finishes. We cannot identify an individual from anything Analytics reports to us. Google's own handling of this data is governed by the Google Privacy Policy.
5. Cookies and local storage
The tool itself works without cookies. Your preferences — the last colour you used, brightness level, and similar settings — are kept in your browser's local storage on your own device. That data is never transmitted to us and clearing your browser data removes it entirely.

6. Legal bases for processing
Where the GDPR applies, we rely on the following bases. Legitimate interests cover keeping the site secure, operating it reliably, and understanding aggregate usage so we can improve it — interests we have balanced against your rights, which is why the analytics setup is deliberately minimal. Consent covers any non-essential cookie where consent is required in your jurisdiction, and you may withdraw it at any time. Legitimate interests also cover responding to an email you have chosen to send us.
7. How long we keep data
Server logs are retained for a short operational period, typically no more than 30 days, and then discarded. Analytics data is retained on a rolling window of no more than 14 months in aggregate form. Email correspondence is kept only as long as needed to resolve your enquiry and for a reasonable period afterwards in case you follow up.
8. Sharing your information
We do not sell, rent or trade personal information — under the CCPA/CPRA we have not sold or shared personal information in the preceding twelve months. We disclose data only to the service providers required to run the site: our hosting and content-delivery provider, which processes technical request data to serve pages, and Google Analytics as described above. We may also disclose information where we are legally required to do so.
9. International transfers
Our providers may process data in countries outside your own, including the United States. Where personal data is transferred out of the UK or EEA, it is covered by appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses or an applicable adequacy decision.
10. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected or erased, to restrict or object to processing, to data portability, and to withdraw consent. Californian residents additionally have rights to know, delete, correct and opt out, and we will not discriminate against you for exercising them.
To exercise any right, email hello@whitescreen.info. We will respond within one month. In practice we hold very little about any individual visitor, so the most common outcome is confirming that we have no personal data associated with you beyond an email you sent us. If you are in the UK or EEA and you are unhappy with our response, you may complain to your national data protection authority.
11. Children
This site is a general-audience utility and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
12. Security
The site is served over HTTPS and we keep the amount of data we hold deliberately small, which is the most effective protection available. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
13. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of the page. Material changes will be highlighted on the page for a reasonable period. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the revised policy.
