Cookie Policy
The colour screens on this site work with no cookies at all. The only cookies that may be set are first-party analytics cookies used to count visits. There is no advertising, retargeting or cross-site tracking here.
1. What cookies are
A cookie is a small text file a website asks your browser to store. It lets a site recognise a returning browser, remember a setting, or count a visit. Related technologies — local storage and session storage — work similarly but keep data purely on your device rather than sending it back with each request. This policy covers all of them.
2. Cookies used on this site
| Name | Type | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
_ga | Analytics (first-party) | Distinguishes one browser from another so visits can be counted | Up to 2 years |
_ga_<ID> | Analytics (first-party) | Maintains the Google Analytics 4 session state | Up to 2 years |
Both are set by Google Analytics 4 and are loaded only after the page becomes usable. We have not enabled advertising features, Google Signals or remarketing, so these cookies are not used to build an advertising profile.
3. Local storage (not a cookie)
Your tool preferences — the colour last used, brightness, and similar settings — are saved in your browser's local storage so the screen opens the way you left it. This information stays on your device, is never sent to our servers, and is deleted whenever you clear your browsing data.
4. What we do not use
- No advertising or retargeting cookies.
- No social media tracking pixels or share-button trackers.
- No third-party embeds that set cookies.
- No device fingerprinting.
5. Managing cookies
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time; every major browser offers per-site controls under privacy or site settings. Because the tools here do not rely on cookies, blocking them will not break anything on this site.
If you would rather not be counted in our aggregate statistics, you can also install the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on, or use your browser's "do not track" and tracking-protection features, which we honour where the browser enforces them.
6. Consent
Where local law requires consent for non-essential cookies, we ask for it before those cookies are set, and you can withdraw consent at any time by clearing cookies for this site in your browser. Essential technical processing needed to deliver the page does not require consent.
7. Changes and contact
If we add or remove a cookie, this page is updated and the date above changes. Questions: hello@whitescreen.info. See also our Privacy Policy.
